A month long journey into the pleasures and pitfalls of making a self-portrait with sculptor Brook Hobbins and artist/curator Patricia Wilson Smith.
This interactive residency, pop-up studio and changing exhibition will take the form of an ongoing conversation between two very different artists – focusing on identity and gender in particular, as well as image making in general.
When am I most myself?
What does the depiction of the unclothed body mean in 21st century art?
What is the definition of “success” as an artist – and on whose terms?
How does gender influence the perception of self?
Why is the sculpted self-portrait so problematic?
Join us to ponder these and any other questions you might like to bring to our ‘home from home’
