Contemporary archaeology from the Anthropocene: An exhibition of works by Steve McPherson
Part of Margate NOW
A solo exhibition of recent works, including assemblage, photography, installation and sculpture using marine plastic found on the beaches of and around Margate. This work highlights not only a global but the local problem of our marine environment, and our consumption of this seemingly inert material that literally envelopes our lives. Although awareness of plastic pollution seems to be incredibly current, much of the plastic in our ocean’s dates from past decades right up to the present. This plastic, the wonder material of the 21st century will be a marker for our time now in the geological strata of the future.
