A selection of large-scale oil and UV reactive paintings, the exhibition invites visitors to experience the evolution of the visionary artwork by Phillip Long, the artist behind Nagual Creations.

A journey which began in the underground warehouse party scene of early 90s London,  and went on to see Phillip’s giant fluorescent paintings exhibited all around the globe, finds its next chapter played out in Margate’s Pie Factory, with a retrospective of his work.

Nagual Creations was born in 1992 when Phillip Long began to create large scale artworks to transform the unconventional spaces occupied by London’s vibrant underground dance culture.

Very quickly his work gained a reputation globally for its rich, multidimensional content, and qualities which brought a memorable impact to music and multimedia events. The surreal work sat equally comfortably on the mountains of Japan and Savannahs of South Africa as it did in iconic clubs in New York or London.

Reverberations of the culture and sound can still be found these days in Phillip’s large oil paintings, where the surreal concepts are executed in a rich and arresting manner which begs the viewer to invest their time.

This exhibition will feature dark, atmospheric spaces where a selection of the early club art can be found, through to bright daylight lit space where you can see the oil paintings and peruse limited edition prints.
