Now living by the sea on the beautiful Kent coastline after many years in the Cambridgeshire countryside I’ve always seen the world in pictures and believe there’s real magic in photography. It often feels like there’s an angel on my shoulder, guiding me to capture the emotion in each image.

My passion began as a young girl, after climbing Hastings Hill with my dad. I took a photo of him at the top exhausted but smiling and when the film was developed, I was hooked. So much feeling had been caught in that single frame.

The camera has been a constant companion ever since, like a friend sharing my journey through life and allowing me to feel connected to the world. In 1999, after moving to Houghton & Wyton, I showed my first collection at the village flower festival. That moment opened the door to many exhibitions, including a moving Angel Exhibition and, in 2009, a three-night show at the Royal Society of Arts in London, followed by two weeks at Stamford Arts Centre, and more in Peterborough and beyond.

My work is instinctive and rooted in presence whether I’m walking the coast, exploring the forest or city, or photographing people (famous and not-so-famous). I don’t always carry my Canon EOS30D these days, but my artist’s eye is always switched on. Sometimes I use my phone instead. The image quality may differ, but the moment still matters.

This year marks my return to exhibiting, and I’m thrilled to be sharing my work at The Pie Factory in Margate. The show includes old favourites and new pieces, Kent coast scenes, abstract works, vibrant florals, and plenty of colour. You’ll also find a collection of my handmade crystal gem trees, each one lovingly created and full of its own unique energy.

Photography has always been how I connect with people, places and with feeling. It’s how I show the world not just as it looks, but how it feels
