Private View: Friday 19 May 4 to 7pm

This exhibition continues from 10 to 16 August 2017

The work in this exhibition is our Ikigai, our reason to get up in the morning.

Karen works mainly in water-colours and oils. She uses high quality paints with amazing depths of colour. Her water-colour pieces are created by a process that results in truly delicate and unpredictable “one offs”. All water-colours are framed.  For her oil pieces she uses a mixture of paint, oil mediums, turpentine and of course gravity to encourage movement of the paint to produce some beautiful effects.  The layers and colours result in abstract work, organic in nature. Her work demands quiet contemplation.
This collection is the culmination of a year’s work on The Crazy Diamond, the ship she and her husband Ian live and work on.

Ian works mainly in salvaged and recycled steel from the docks and marinas along the river. Old anchor chain, ships fittings, and whatever else he can find. Large welded steel garden sculptures, some gravity defying, often left to rust, an honest reflection of the material. Smaller pieces, like the candle sticks, are treated to halt the rusting process giving them a blackened finish. All pieces are unique, one off items,
Both artists believe passionately that art should be accessible to all, with that in mind they have produced work that caters for all budgets.
