Having worked in Telecoms and lived in Italy (Florence) and Portugal over the last 15 years, Salim has now settled in Ramsgate and is focusing on his creative side expressed through unique jewellery.
Salim’s jewellery fuses silver-smithing, studied at Sir John Cass with technical skills acquired from a diploma in Geological Laboratory Techniques. On leaving college he realised that the specimens he was preparing for scientific study in the laboratory would make incredible subject matter in jewellery.
Salim’s process of embedding fragile semi-precious stones, fossils and iridescent insects in resin, allow them to be displayed, while enhancing the interplay of light and stabilising them for prosperity.
He has previously sold his jewellery in Bond Street and Camden Market.
