Daniela Flowerdew’s current work examines how Mid Century aesthetics sit in our current visual language. A collection of modernist pieces of glass and china combine with the strangely beautiful shapes of packaging to create abstracts that range from pure geometry to organic curves.
Dani Flowerdew graduated from Central/St Martin’s in 1989. She did not continue with visual art at that time, but played in a band and performed as a ‘stand-up poet’.
In 2000 she returned to making and has worked since then in a broad range of media including painting, collage, spoken word and soundscapes.
She is a Lecturer in Art & Design at East Kent College, teaching and education are important to her own creative practice. In 2013, this led her to go back into art school part time to complete her MA in Fine Art at Canterbury Christ Church University. Her MA work focused on the optimism of post war British Modernism and the relationships between text and image.
