The pictures have grown from many different ideas and passions; of forests and fires, ponds and beaches, fairgrounds, greed and war – each developing in curious ways.
Stephen paints and constructs artworks. He was born in North East London, raised in Surrey, and trained at Guildford and the Royal Academy Schools. He has exhibited in group shows and at the London Group and the Royal Academy. At Alexandra Palace and the Serpentine Gallery he made environmental structures of vinyls and fabrics with the artist Carol Kenna. The pair later formed Greenwich Mural Workshop – fusing participation and politics, creating large gable end murals, mosaics, playgrounds and parks.
His recent artworks are conceptual visions of forests, fairgrounds and flames, marching generals, ponds, beaches and strange city street scenes.
He came to Ramsgate in late summer 2013 and is looking forward to seeing what change his move to Thanet has wrought!
