Paper-craft by the Sea

All Aboard for Paper-craft by the Sea

Renowned designer-maker and author of 7 contemporary craft books, Clare Youngs, has announced her creative paper craft launch, taking place in Margate’s Pie Factory pop-up shop over the Easter weekend.

Author of an assortment of craft books including ‘Scandinavian Needlecraft’, ‘Stylish Paper Craft’ and ‘Papercrafting in No Time’, Clare Youngs will be transforming Margate’s Pie Factory pop-up shop from 6th – 10th April into a crafting haven.

Free-to-attend workshops will be running throughout the five days, for anyone to drop by and join in with the paper craft fun. Visitors will learn how to make celebration paper garlands; paper fish decorations; as well as polish paper cuts and lots more.

The pop-up shop will also host an exhibition space and a sale of artworks by the designer, compiled of vintage labels, old books and maps.

In the heart of Margate’s old town, the Pie Factory was once home to much-loved regional bakers. Now, a hundred years on, the building forms a focal point for Margate’s emerging community of artists.

Clare Youngs decided on this location for its artistic surroundings: “Margate is turning into a hubbub of creative activity; the host of vintage shops, charming cafes, right next to the Turner Contemporary, makes the old Pie Factory a fantastic place to learn a new craft.”

Paper-craft by the sea will take place in the Pie Factory, Pop up shop, 7 Broad Street, Margate, CT9 1EW. Daily from 10am -5.00pm, Friday 6th – Tuesday 10th April 2012.
